Boiler House Demolition, Lancaster
Client – Lancaster Hospital
Project type – Boiler House Demolition
Project length – 8 Weeks
Issues we needed to think about before commencing works
- Environmental concerns
- Working on live hospital grounds
- Noise pollution
Inglenorth was commissioned to undertake a complex demolition project at Lancaster Royal Infirmary, comprising the removal of a redundant boiler house and a 41.5-metre chimney. Delivered in two distinct phases, the project required careful planning, precise execution, and strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Phase 1: Boiler House Demolition
The first phase involved the systematic demolition of the obsolete boiler house. Given the sensitive hospital environment, operations were carried out with minimal disruption to surrounding services. Our team implemented rigorous safety measures and environmental controls, ensuring the works were completed efficiently and responsibly.
Phase 2: Chimney Deconstruction
The second phase entailed the controlled dismantling of the 41.5m chimney. Due to its height and proximity to live hospital infrastructure, the works required specialist equipment and a meticulous approach. Inglenorth’s highly trained operatives executed the deconstruction with precision, maintaining the highest standards of safety throughout.
The project was completed on programme and to the full satisfaction of the client. We extend our thanks to the entire project team for their commitment and professionalism, which were instrumental in the safe and successful delivery of this challenging scheme.
